Vision and Planning of

Barbourville First United Methodist Church

On the evening of February 18th, 2007, we will have Goals 2007!  This will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will start with a church-wide dinner and then goal-setting.  Please come help us discern where God is leading us in the next year!  The following is our last statement of goals.

Mission:  Our mission is to make and nurture disciples in Jesus Christ through prayer, gifts, and service in order to encourage others to live and witness for Christ and transform the world through God’s love.

Values:

Fellowship; Learning; Outreach; Worship; Service (FLOWS)

Target Point:  Discipleship

Within 30 days we will have a discipleship group of a least 10 people who will be committed to daily prayer and Biblical reading for the next year.  One day a week or month our congregation will be invited to pray and/or fast for spiritual formation in our church.

Target Point:  Children/Youth/College

We will explore the possibility of two music nights/pizza parties in the coming year to bring in children, youth, and college age students to expose them to Christ through music.

Target Point:  Multipurpose Room

We will redesign and remodel the youth room into a multipurpose café/theater with a small stage, seating, sofas, and tables.  Within 12 months we will clear the room, paint, remodel, check (see if it is sufficient for stages 2 & 3) and ground the electrical system, put in some new lighting, replace the exterior door, add sofas and tables, perhaps some coffee equipment, and look into rebuilding the exterior staircase—for safety reasons.
